Museo Nazionale di Antropologia e Etnologia - Firenze in Toscana
Il Museo, primo del genere in Europa, è sorto nel 1869 ad opera di Paolo Mantegazza, medico e antropologo, e ha sede nel Palazzo Nonfinito, iniziato nel 1593 su progetto di Bernardo Buontalenti. La documentazione, raccolta in gran parte dalle missioni scientifiche della scuola antropologica fiorentina, comprende materiali relativi alla cultura originale- oggi perduta – di numerosi popoli extraeuropei (abitazioni e suppellettili domestiche, vesti, armi, imbarcazioni, oggetti cultuali…); collezioni osteologiche antiche di grande interesse per lo studio della paleoantropologia del nostro paese e reperti osteologici moderni (numerosi crani dalle varie parti del mondo) per lo studio somatico delle popolazioni italiane ed extraeuropee.
